Patient Rights and Responsibilities

Updated: November 6, 2025

You can expect Bowtie Foundation to:

  1. Be ethical and able to assist with needs and questions related to your treatment.
  2. Be professional and treat everyone fairly, no matter where or how you live, how old you are, where you came from, how much money you make, or the color of your skin.
  3. Do what’s best for you when helping with decisions about your treatment.
  4. Stand up for your needs and do everything possible to work with your doctors to find the best treatment for you.
  5. Keep your medical records private and only use them to help you get the best care possible.
  6. Speak in a way that helps you understand your treatment and options.

As a patient, there are things that only you can do (by law) to help ensure you receive the best and safest service.  We call these patient responsibilities.

As a patient, your responsibilities include:

  1. Giving Bowtie Foundation important information that helps us confirm your identity, your treatment needs, and your coverage.
  2. Asking questions to make sure you understand your treatment plan.
  3. Contacting Bowtie Foundation if there is a problem or if you are not happy with the service provided to you.
